IAAIS INTERNET PROGRAM SHARE DIRECTIONS

Welcome to the IAAIS Internet Program Share.

Here is where IAAIS members will be able to share and receive programs with other member stations. This page will give you the information you will need to upload and download audio programs, and give you the free software you may need to convert between .wav format and .mp3. Below you will also see directions on how to ftp your porgrams with nothing more than your internet explorer. A free FTP program is also available for stations to upload their programs to the server.

SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT

To get your account you will need to select a user name and pick your password.

Your username is to be only in small case letters.

Your password should consist of both numbers and letters and be at least eight characters long.

Once you have selected your user name and password contact Brad Martin or David Binkley

DOWNLOADING PROGRAMS

To download programs all you need is your user name and password. Just go to http://iaais.wcrsradio.org and right click with your mouse the program you wish to download and select "save target as". If you left click your mouse on the desired program you should be able to preview the program if you wish to do so. Download times will vary due to your internet connection speed.

MP3 AND WAV CONVERSION

In order to save drive space and upload and download times, all programs must be converted to .mp3 format. The settings we require are 32000 hz and 48 kbps. This will create an audio file that will be about ten megabytes per half hour.

When converting back to .wav format we suggest you go no lower than 22500 / 16 bit. This should ensure the quality of the program for airing.

If you have no software to convert your files, we include this simple free program db Power Amp. This program is self extracting and will install itself when you double-click on the icon.

A program more recently found and extremely JAWS friendly is SWITCHER. Also self extracting, it runs much the same as db Power Amp.

TACKING ON IAAIS TAG

A program has been brought to our attention that will not only tack on the IAAIS intro onto your program, it will also convert it into the desired mode. (32000 nz and 48 kbps) MEDIA JOINER will connect and convert and is also JAWS usable.

UPLOADING YOUR PROGRAM

The uploading of your program has become a much easier process. All you need is your Internet Explorer. Once your program is tagged and in the proper .mp3 format, pull up your Internet Explorer, and in the address bar put ftp://iaais.wcrsradio.org
Once there the prompt will ask for your username and your password. This being completed it will open into your stations folder. You must place the items inside you folder or no other stations will be able to access it.

If you already use an FTP program to upload to a server, by all means keep using it.

There are several good programs available to do this, including the DOS command line FTP program that comes with Windows, but we include the free FTP Explorer. This program is also self extracting, but takes two steps to install. Once installed you can use drag and drop items.

  1. Double-click the FTPX file you downloaded, and choose Extract. You may be prompted to create the folder c:\ftpx and you should do this. The screen will instantly disappear.
  2. Now install the program. Go to My Computer, then Open your C: drive, and find the folder you just made called FTPX. Open that folder, and run Setup from it. Follow the instructions to install the program.

Once installed here are your settings.

  • host name: iaais.wcrsradio.org
  • user name: (your user name)
  • password: (your password)

That's the process. The more we upload to share, the better it is for all member services.

ONCE YOUR PROGRAM HAS BEEN UPDATED YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT DAVID BINKLEY (radiodave1@yahoo.com) OR BRAD MARTIN (martin@alaprint.org) SO WE KNOW IT IS THERE AND LINK IT TO THE PROGRAM SHARE WEB PAGE.

IF WE DO NOT LINK THE PROGRAM TO THE WEB SITE THEN NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO DOWN LOAD IT - SO PLEASE LET US KNOW.

Special thanks to Rob Hieser for the hard drive instillation and original software instilation,
and his continued support of our service, and to Brad Martin who really made this configuration possible for IAAIS.
